BuddyStar campaigns for vitamins for children
BuddyStar supports the Freiburg Community Foundation at Christmas time with several apple sponsorships and a fruit tree sponsorship.
In this festive season of charity, BuddyStar GmbH is setting an example for social commitment and supporting the Freiburg Community Foundation. By taking on several apple sponsorships, the Freiburg-based company BuddyStar and its parent company IIC International AG will donate around 45 kg of apples per week to five Freiburg institutions with children during the apple season. In addition to the apple sponsorships, BuddyStar has also taken on a fruit tree sponsorship, thereby contributing to climate protection and the habitat of numerous animals. BuddyStar GmbH’s parent company, IIC International AG, also donated a tree and has taken on apple sponsorships. The symbolic donation cheques were presented to the Freiburg Community Foundation last Tuesday by Managing Director, Wolfgang Walk, and Marketing Director, Benjamin Winterhalter.
Over 2,000 children receive apples every week
Thanks to the apple sponsorships of the Freiburg Community Foundation, over 2,000 children in Freiburg’s day nurseries, kindergartens and leisure centres receive fresh apples every week from September to March. The apples come from regional fruit farms that are actively involved in this project. The apple sponsorships not only support the children with vitamins, but also local agriculture.
“We are delighted that BuddyStar is now part of this local project. Not only because we are making a contribution to healthy and conscious nutrition for the children of our city, but also because our apple sponsorships enable us to put a smile on the faces of around 270 children every morning when they pick up their fresh apples for breakfast,” reports Managing Director Wolfgang Walk.
Fruit trees for a green and liveable Freiburg
By taking on a fruit tree sponsorship, BuddyStar is utilising the investment-worthy opportunity to actively do something good for the environment and the future. The fruit trees, which are planted in an ecologically valuable meadow orchard, make an important contribution to the ecological balance, biodiversity and quality of life in the city of Freiburg. The tree donated by BuddyStar will be planted next spring in Dietenbach Park, next to the cycle bridge to Rieselfeld.
Commitment to social cohesion
The Freiburg Community Foundation, which has established itself as a platform for benefactors, donors and time donors, is committed to a wide range of projects in the areas of social welfare, education, culture and ecology.
The Freiburg Community Foundation was founded in June 2006 by 90 committed donors, inspired by the annual conference of the Association of German Foundations in Freiburg in May 2005. Since then, the foundation has played a key role in promoting and realising projects that reflect the principles of democratic, social and sustainable urban development. In this way, the foundation makes it possible to work for the good of the regional living space and to support innovative projects and charitable tasks on a long-term basis. BuddyStar joins this commitment with its support and would like to stand up together for a lively and sustainable future in Freiburg.
“The Freiburg Community Foundation is very pleased about BuddyStar’s commitment,” says Dr Sigrid Faltin, project manager of the Freiburg Community Foundation’s apple sponsorships. “Especially in times when money is scarce everywhere and the need for funding is high, the company is generously supporting two socially and ecologically valuable projects. That is exemplary and sustainable.”
